Magnus Heavy Duty Monitor Arm
For me, this is definitely the highlight of the included extensions: The Heavy Duty Monitor Arm. And boy, does it live up to its name!
Due to the high price of €349, we naturally took a closer look here. When unpacking, there is no doubt that this is a premium product.
Here too, all the individual parts are packed in exemplary fashion and covered with a protective film.
The instructions come in the form of a high-quality printed cardboard box.
The base forms a solid clamp for attachment to the table top.
A metal ball bearing provides smooth support.
The desk pad clamped between the tabletop and the holder is not quite ideal, as it allows some play despite the solid construction.
The joints of the holder are also equipped with a metal ball bearing, and cable management is also integrated into the joints.
The pivots click into the ball bearings with a satisfying click and sit firmly and securely together after screwing. The entire construction gives a very stable impression.
The imprint “HD” (for heavy duty) is certainly not an empty promise!
The spring resistance of the tension spring mechanism can be adjusted using a screw. There is even a scale for visual feedback:
As with all other monitor mounts I know, the monitor is mounted on the arm using spacers and a support plate.
Once the support plate has been mounted on the monitor, it simply needs to be hooked into the arm and secured with a fixing screw.
Appropriate handles can be attached to the support plate to make it easier to align the bracket:
For visual reasons, I left out the lower handle in the test setup. The mounted and aligned monitor:
The Heavy Duty monitor arm is extremely solid and cuts a very good figure in every respect. However, at €349, it is also in the realm of industry leader Ergotron, whose products I am unfortunately unable to make a direct comparison with due to a lack of experience. This is the most stable and highest quality mount I have ever had in my hands, but I still can’t really rate the price-performance ratio.
