Practical test with three test subjects
The practical test was again carried out with three test subjects in order to cover as broad a spectrum as possible and to gather as many impressions as possible. With regard to the criteria, I was guided by Igor’s test reports and because this was always well received in the articles, I implemented the test in the same way here too.
Summary for person 1 (1.59m/ 65kg)
“I find the TANK XXL visually very appealing and extremely comfortable. The fabric surface in particular feels very good. The chair reminds me a lot of the last Corsair TC500 I tested, where the armrests were also too far apart (for me). However, this one is a little more firmly upholstered and is even larger. It’s certainly great for long gaming sessions, as I can even sit comfortably cross-legged here. For working, the chair is too big and too heavy for me, but with my height I’m also completely outside the target group!”
Summary for person 2 (1.83m/ 62kg)
“I also immediately remember the last Corsair chair I tested, as it behaves similarly in many respects. The chair has a very high-quality finish and the fabric surface feels great – I would actually describe it as “very comfortable”. The shoulder area could be a little softer padded and basically the chair is just too wide for me. At the end of the day, I simply couldn’t work ergonomically with the armrests too far apart and the rocking mechanism far too stiff.”
Summary of person 3 (1.88m/ 123kg)
“I agree with the two previous speakers regarding the general feel of the chair and the visually very attractive fabric cover. The high backrest is also very comfortable for my long upper body and I sat very comfortably on the TANK XXL throughout the entire test period. However, not only the armrests, which are too far apart and yet too low, are an exclusion criterion for me (and I am definitely in the chair’s target group with my measurements), but also the non-lockable rocking mechanism. I find the latter to be quite a disappointment and it also disqualifies the chair for me as a ‘work tool’. What the TANK does really well, however, is fulfill its purpose as a ‘gaming chair’: lots of space, super comfortable and extremely sturdy – you just love to sink into it after work!”
Interim conclusion
Overall, the TANK XXL was well received by all three test subjects, scoring points above all with its cozy fabric cover. The gigantic seat invites you to relax and creates a certain sofa feeling. Depending on the application scenario, this can be seen both positively and negatively, as the balancing act between “office chair” and “gaming chair” is a difficult undertaking. I will go into this in more detail in the final conclusion.
XXL comparison
The DXRacer TANK XXL is big. Very big. It even towers over the largest chair I have ever tested – the SecretLAB Titan Evo. I have put the two giants side by side for you to compare:
Compared to the TANK, the Titan Evo looks a little slimmer, which is due to the thinner upholstery, the smaller neck cushion and the lumbar support integrated into the backrest.
As the chairs are also in the same price class, the comparison was an obvious choice and is also taken up again in the conclusion.
