Grayscale, color fidelity, saturation and gamut to factory settings
Compared to LCD-based eSports monitors, the PG27AQDP can deliver far more. On the one hand, of course, the awesome OLED contrast and, on the other, the viewing angle stability and beautiful colors. Speaking of color, how good is the factory calibration?
Color space coverage
As always, the LG panel delivers sRGB and DCI-P3 in abundance. But Adobe RGB is also impressive with 95 percent color space coverage. This is somewhat unusual, as LG panels have tended to scratch the 90 percent mark in the past. I’ll take note of that for now.
Gray Scale, Saturation, ColorChecker @ Default Settings (10 % APL)
Gray Scale, Saturation, ColorChecker @ OSD sRGB Cal. Mode (10 % APL)
Gray Scale, Saturation, ColorChecker @ OSD sRGB Color Space (10 % APL)
Gray Scale, Saturation, ColorChecker @ OSD DCI-P3 Color Space (10 % APL)
Interim conclusion
In the factory state, the DeltaE values are – as always – beyond good and evil. The monitor does not run in the standard color space sRGB. The white point and RGB balance could also be significantly better. However, the PG27AQDP can still deliver good values for an eSports monitor.
The factory calibration for the sRGB color space mode has an avg. DeltaE of 1.64 and according to ASUS it should be 1.46. I would sign off on that. That looks like the most honest report I’ve ever seen. Next, let’s take a look at the brightness and power consumption.
