Conclusion
The ASUS MX25AQ was and is a well-made monitor that unfortunately has little to offer in terms of ergonomics. The LG IPS panel with “only” 60 Hz is certainly no longer the first choice when it comes to gaming in 2024. The latencies and pixel response times can still keep up with current monitors in this class. I personally find the QHD resolution on a 25-inch (24-inch) monitor somewhat exotic, as you pay far too high a premium for the slightly better pixel density – even today.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t report anything good in terms of color accuracy, as the perception of Wellenbrecher regarding the sRGB mode was much more optimistic than the figures proved. But this is also a realization or confirmation of what I have often said. People only really perceive color differences from a dE > 3. And usually only if you have a reference. Yes, there are definitely professionals in this field who can see even the smallest deviation – exceptions prove the rule. What I liked was that the MX25AQ was advertised quite honestly by ASUS.
Based on the prices for IPS monitors in 2015, ASUS has certainly placed the MX25AQ exactly where the market was at the time. According to Geizhals, the MX24AQ started at around 390 euros. According to Prad.de, the MX27AQ (note the 27-inch version) had a street price of 495 euros on 16.03.2015.
As things stand today, you should definitely not pay more than 180 euros for a 24-inch IPS monitor and only if you absolutely want QHD. Today you can get a good and, above all, new 24-inch 1080p with IPS and 75 Hz for less than 100 euros. So why should you pay just one euro for a used 25-inch QHD from 2015?
To help you understand my article today a little better, I have linked to the test report of the 27-inch version from Prad.de from 2015. Even though this is the 27-inch monitor, you can draw conclusions about the MX25AQ.
And I conclude my article with the words of the Prad author at the time, which can also be applied to the MX25AQ:
“All in all, this makes the MX27AQ a greatall-round monitor, which unfortunately can only fully develop its image display quality after calibration.”
Touché!
The monitor was provided to me by the forum user Wellenbrecher without obligation – for testing purposes. There was no influence on the tests and results. There was also no compensation for expenses and no obligation to publish by ASUS or anyone else.
