Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the first games to take full advantage of the new AI features of the GeForce RTX 5070, providing a noticeable performance boost. DLSS 4 in particular plays a central role here, as it not only improves upscaling, but also optimizes frame generation and AI-supported image enhancements. In native resolution without DLSS, the RTX 5070 is barely faster than the RTX 4070 Super. Only when AI support is activated do clear differences become visible. DLSS 4 can significantly increase the frame rate thanks to its more efficient algorithms and the increased performance of the fifth generation of Tensor Cores. Especially in demanding scenarios with activated path tracing, which generates an enormous computing load, the new technology ensures that smooth frame rates are achieved even in 4K.
Another new feature is the improved AI-based reconstruction of details, which is intended to minimize artefacts and further improve image quality. In Cyberpunk 2077, this means that motion blur and temporal interference, which were visible with previous upscaling methods, now occur less frequently. The game benefits noticeably from the advanced image processing, especially in dynamic scenes with fast camera movements and high detail density. The RTX 5070 also benefits from more efficient use of the ray tracing hardware. The improved fourth-generation RT cores make it possible to perform complex light and shadow calculations with less loss of performance. In combination with DLSS 4, a playable performance can be achieved that would hardly be possible without AI support.
This game clearly shows that the RTX 5070 can only fully exploit its strengths when the software is optimized accordingly. Without DLSS 4, the performance increase remains minimal, but with AI support enabled, the new architecture enables a significantly smoother gaming experience – especially in demanding ray tracing scenarios.

Due to the large amount of data for better clarity, I have listed the Ada and Backwell cards separately this time, with the exception of the GeForce RTX 5070, but the axis scaling is the same in each case. Jensen caused quite a stir in advance when he announced that this new mid-range GPU could achieve performance on a par with an RTX 4090 – at least in certain scenarios with AI support. This statement clearly referred to the advances of DLSS 4 and other AI-assisted optimizations, but was interpreted in many cases as if the RTX 5070 could replace the raw computing power of the RTX 4090. This is, of course, nonsense, but I’ve nevertheless included it in the visuals, because at least with MFG, the media world is in order:

Individual metrics for WQHD and Ultra-HD
Individual metrics such as percentile frame time, variances, latencies, power consumption and efficiency are essential for evaluating graphics cards in demanding scenarios such as Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing. The percentile frame time indicates disruptive drops in performance, while consistent frame times indicate smooth gameplay. Variances show fluctuations that can lead to micro-stutters, even at high frame rates. Latencies affect reactivity and are optimized by technologies such as DLSS frame and multi-frame generation to ensure a direct gaming experience.

Differences between the rendering methods
The comparison of the frame time curve and the power consumption over the course of the benchmark provides an in-depth analysis of the performance under different rendering methods. With native resolution, the frame time curve often shows stronger fluctuations and higher power consumption, as the GPU carries the entire rendering load. With frame generation (FG), the GPU load is reduced as additional frames are generated without having to render all pixels traditionally, resulting in a smoother frame time curve. Nevertheless, load peaks can occur, for example during sudden scene changes or complex ray tracing.
Multi-frame generation (MFG) with DLSS 4 generates several frames from one rendered image, which further smoothes the frame-time curve and keeps power consumption more constant. This not only reduces load peaks, but also optimizes efficiency, as fewer computing cycles are required for comparable or better image quality. The parallel plot of the curves illustrates how DLSS technologies smooth GPU load, minimize load spikes and enable more consistent power consumption. This is particularly important for energy efficient systems or thermally constrained scenarios.
