Summary and overview of all games
The normalization of FPS values across different games serves to objectively and comparably represent the performance of a hardware. As different games place varying demands on the CPU and GPU, raw FPS values are not always directly comparable. For normalization, the FPS values of all tested games are brought to a uniform scale and only then calculated as an average value. This approach allows for a balanced assessment of hardware performance that is not distorted by the specific characteristics of individual titles. I use this metric for both the average FPS and the P1 Low, i.e. the percentile with the slowest rendered frames. And I have to spoil it: the Gaming Trio tested today is almost as fast to the decimal place due to the identical clock rate.
The term P1 Low describes a value used in benchmarks that indicates the lowest 1% of the measured FPS. In contrast to the average value, it shows drops in performance that can disrupt the gaming experience. For the calculation, the FPS values are sorted and the highest value of the lower 1% is determined as P1 Low. This helps to isolate sudden frame drops and evaluate the stability of the frame rate.
The measurement in Full HD enables a targeted analysis of the performance of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, as the GPU is only slightly utilized in this resolution. This makes potential CPU bottlenecks more apparent, which is particularly useful for assessing whether the CPU has a limiting effect in modern games. In addition, the following values for GPU and CPU power consumption provide information about the scenarios in which which components work under full load.
The CPU also plays a role, whereby the power consumption decreases with higher resolutions.
The efficiency is then the counter calculation, so to speak, where the amount of watts used (average over the respective game) and the average FPS of the game in question are compared. The advantage is very clear:
