Corsair has redesigned the RMe series to offer a slightly modernized power supply solution that meets the latest ATX 3.1 standards. The revised series is aimed at users who value high efficiency, low noise and a reliable power supply for modern PC systems. Reason enough for me to once again let my friend Aris from Hardwarebusters have his say (and picture) in this regard on our site, as he has not only intensively tested this power supply, which costs around 160 euros, but has also officially certified it through his company Cybenetics. As this will certainly be of interest to you, I am happy to offer him the platform to share his findings with you on a case-by-case basis. And don’t forget, his website and YouTube channel also offer real gems in terms of really well-founded reviews! The power supply is also featured in his article on the best ATX v3.x & PCIe 5.x power supplies.
This review takes a closer look at the RM850e, the 850-watt version of the series. The Corsair RM850e ATX v3.1 is one of the more powerful models in the RMe series and is featured in my article on the best ATX 3.x and PCIe 5.x power supplies. With a maximum output of 850 W, it is ideal for powerful gaming and workstation systems that require a stable and efficient power supply. The entire RMe series has been certified by Cybenetics, with the 850W model achieving a Gold rating in the efficiency class as well as a LAMBDA-A rating for noise. This means that the average noise level is in the range of 20 to 25 dBA – a value that ensures pleasantly quiet operation and makes the power supply particularly attractive for noise-sensitive environments.
The new RMe models are equipped with native 12V 2×6 connectors that comply with Intel ATX 3.1 and PCIe 5.1 standards. These connectors ensure future-proof compatibility with modern graphics cards and other high-performance components. In addition, the cables are provided with embossed structures and flat cable combs, which considerably simplifies cable management and at the same time creates a tidy appearance in the case. Another advantage of the RM850e is the sophisticated cooling system. The 120 mm fan with rifle bearing works with a relatively restrained speed profile to ensure low noise levels without neglecting cooling performance. This contributes to the longevity of the power supply unit and ensures a good balance between performance and acoustics.
In addition to its technical advantages, the RM850e also impresses with its compact design. With a depth of just 140 mm, it fits easily into a large number of PC cases, which is particularly advantageous for compact systems. The pricing within the RMe series is also interesting. There is a clear price range between the 750 W, 850 W and 1000 W models, so it is worth checking the respective performance requirements carefully in order to select the optimum model for your individual needs.
