Unboxing and accessories
The packaging of the Vero L6 750 Watt follows a simple, functional approach that fits well with the price and application range of this power supply. The box is sturdy and does not have a superfluous glossy look, which reflects the practical nature of the entire product line. Opening the box reveals a clearly structured arrangement: the power supply unit itself is neatly wrapped in bubble wrap, which reliably protects the edges, paintwork and fan grille from damage during transportation. The cable harnesses are arranged sideways in the box, which makes them easier to remove and also prevents the relatively stiff, firmly attached cables from scratching the housing during transportation.
The accessories include a power cable, fixing screws and some cable ties to facilitate basic cable management in the case. The enclosed instructions are in several languages and provide a brief but adequate guide to setting up the device. The scope of delivery is minimalist overall, but without any functional gaps, as all the elements required for installation are included. Given the price range, this scope is appropriate and corresponds to what you would expect from a cost-effective ATX power supply.
The actual unboxing is straightforward, as the power supply unit, accessories and documentation are packaged in an orderly fashion and can be removed without difficulty. The fixed cable routing immediately catches the eye and highlights the focus on a simple, robust design as soon as it is unpacked. The finish of the case looks clean, the paint is even and the fan is well protected. As a result, the Vero L6 conveys a solid overall impression of suitability for everyday use from the very first impression, without unnecessary staging and instead concentrating on practical aspects.
The cable equipment
The cable configuration is appropriate for a power supply unit in this price range and covers all the typical requirements of a modern mid-range system. As the Vero L6 works entirely with fixed cables, there are no additional transition resistances due to modular plug connections, but at the same time this design restricts flexibility in cable management. For more compact cases or builds with high demands on cable routing, this can mean a little more effort, but in normal everyday use it is easily manageable.
The 24-pin ATX strand uses a mixture of 18 and 20 AWG conductors, which is common in this performance class and ensures sufficient current carrying capacity. The EPS strand provides two 4 4-pin connectors, which is more than sufficient for common mainboards and also reliably supplies systems with more powerful CPUs. The dimensioning with 18 AWG conductors corresponds to the standard and ensures a stable supply as long as no extreme overclocking scenarios are pursued.
Three 2-pin PCIe connectors and a 12V 2×6 connector with additional sense-wiring are available for graphics cards. The design of the classic PCIe cables with 18 AWG conductors is appropriate and covers typical graphics cards up to the upper mid-range. The new 12 4-pin connector is designed with a combination of 16 to 26 AWG conductors. The thicker conductors handle the actual load, while the thinner wires are responsible for the sense signals. This means that the power supply can officially deliver up to 600 watts to GPUs, which underlines its ATX 3.1 compliance. For a product in this price range, this feature is a clear advantage, as the new connector is not a matter of course.
The peripheral strands with SATA and Molex connectors use 18 AWG conductors throughout and are sensibly divided. Three SATA connectors on one strand and a combined SATA/Molex strand offer sufficient connection options for SSDs, cooling or additional hardware without unnecessarily lengthening the cable. In this class, this is a practical compromise that harmonizes easily with standard builds.
The Vero L6 therefore offers a balanced and functional cable configuration. Although the fixed installation restricts flexibility somewhat, the quality of the individual cables and conductor cross-sections is solid in all relevant areas. The modern 12V 2×6 plug is a particularly positive feature, as many inexpensive power supply units do not yet offer this.
