Sound recording and latency measurement
Shot with an iPhone 15 PRO Max, to the left of the keyboard at a distance of approximately 12 cm. Room size: 14.5 sq m. 2.5 cm thick wooden tabletop. A 4 mm thick desk pad was used.
Lofree Edge keyboard
The Edge keyboard has a much crisper sound character, which is characterized by its design and the tighter acoustic feedback. Every keystroke is precise and clearly defined, resulting in a direct and lively sound. The acoustic profile conveys a deliberately defined feedback signal that is particularly suitable for users who prefer a clear and present touch sound.
Lofree Flow 2 68
The Flow-2-68, on the other hand, works with a very quiet and restrained sound. The internal damping layers and the softer construction noticeably reduce noise so that the typing noise remains barely perceptible. This acoustic alignment ensures that long periods of typing are comfortable and fatigue-free without disturbing other people in the vicinity.
Calculator
The calculator produces a distinctly clacky and clearly audible sound that clearly stands out from conventional models. Every keystroke provides a firm and perceptible feedback that is immediately reminiscent of real mechanical switches and reproduces the typical characteristics of these switches without distortion. The acoustic profile is lively and direct, so that every input is triggered in a clearly defined manner.
The built-in mechanical switches play a key role in making the calculator feel like a small keyboard and provide an unexpectedly intense operating experience. The touch remains consistent, clear and distinctive, making the inputs feel almost playful. This feedback creates a special dynamic that gives the device its own personality.
This combination creates a user experience that goes beyond pure function and generates a tangible level of enjoyment when using the computer. The mechanical feedback motivates users to use the device more often because the inputs are not only efficient, but also acoustically and haptically satisfying.
Now that was something different 😉
So let’s see what the two measurements say. The Edge has a somewhat slower response behavior and works slower overall. As it is not designed purely as a gaming keyboard, this result falls within the expected range. With an average value of 26.6 milliseconds, it reacts noticeably slower than models that have been specially optimized for maximum speed, but remains completely sufficient for normal use.
With an average measured value of 14.5 milliseconds, the Flow 2 achieves a significantly faster response time and is therefore in the upper performance range of compact keyboards. This delay is close to the values of specialized gaming models and enables precise input behavior even during fast processes. Thanks to the high response speed, the Flow 2 is not only suitable for productive work, but also for applications where short latencies are an advantage.
